Want to join our team?

Dear Everyone,

We wanted to reach out to you to share some updates from our recent participation in the I-Corps program this past summer.

  • We’ve received great feedback from both our execution of taught material and the results of the deliverables.
    • The interviewees feedback gave us some evidence that:
      •  Universities, Independent Suppliers, Government, and non-profits are key partners.
      • Our 3 top interviews were with a small business owner, the CEO of a startup that needed help in modern technological integration, and a professor/researcher interested in automating laboratory systems.
      • AI is a trending industry in Pharma; life science companies are racing to implement ML models that will feed neural networks to keep up with Industry 4.0.
      • 4 out of 12 interviewees would pay for a solution that would help them automate their business processes, but 4 others are already in the process of implementing some sort of companywide digitalization effort.
      • Our target customers preferred a B2C Online platform with the option for managed services.

The best news is that since we have been able to validate our hypothesis with promising results, and now have the opportunity to participate in the Fall 2021 cohort of the I-corps program!

This is the main full I-Corps program offered to researchers in both the Fall and Spring semesters. This element of the program is 5 weeks in length and includes a 2-day kickoff, 3 webinars, and a program finale. Teams that successfully complete this phase receive a micro-grant and the opportunity to apply for an NSF-funded full Phase I Research Grant or apply for a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR/ STTR) program.

As you may already know this summer accelerated program was focused on obtaining only a small subset of information compared to what we need to gather. We have been paying close attention to only interviewing customer archetypes that have some have sort of decision-making authority within their corporate structure. Their feedback is encouraging us to continue the efforts towards discovering an offer to repeatable and scalable solutions for companies involved with R&D.

To complete the next phase (Phase I) of the program we have been advised to put together a team with a minimum of 3 members.  We are currently looking to fill the team with 2 tiers of members.

Tier 1

  • Academic leads
    • Faculty
    • Has some expertise in area of research (one of these)
      • Molecular Biology
      • Physics
      • Bioinformatics
      • Mathematics
      • Computer Science
  • Technical Leads
    • Research
    • Medicine
    • Engineering (Hardware)
    • Developers (Software)

Tier 2

  • Project Management
  • Data Analysis
  • Interviews
  • Case Studies
  • Workshops

The due date for the application is Oct. 1st, but people can join the team all the way up to Oct. 20th. The program starts on Oct. 28th and is done remotely.

I wanted to publicize this call to action, to see If anyone within our network had an interest in joining our research team.
